Any Orlando hotel recommendation for a tourist weekend (late 20's/early 30's, no kids) ?

Business has me going to Orlando mid-week in late April and I was going to have the wife fly down at the end of the week so we can spend 4 days through the weekend doing touristy things (no kids). Theme parks, restaurants and nightlife. I know Orlando is big and sprawling, but looking for a good hotel recommendation for what we are looking to do that won’t break the bank but is nice quality. We are more interested in Universal Studios than Disney, but we might check out both. We are late 20′s / early 30′s.

Any recommendations?

Take note of the Seralago recommendation in another answer — it’s in Kissimmee, and would be completely nowhere near where you are looking to stay. Although I do prefer Disney over Universal (and suggest that you at least visit the Downtown Disney shopping & dining area), it sounds like you’ll be spending most of your time near Universal, and will probably want to find a hotel near there. So, I recommend:

The Universal resorts — these are on Universal property and are very nice.

    Portofino Bay

    Royal Pacific

Just outside are a few good choices:

    Westin Imagine

    Hope that helps!
