Holiday in Orlando Florida..?
I have always wanted to take my future young family to Orlando Florida and I’m thinking about starting a savings account so I can put money aside to do this. (it’ll be a LONG way off though as my first baby isn’t due until November so I’ve got plenty of time to save lol)
What would be the best age to take a young family to Orlando to do the whole experience such as Disney World, Sea world, Universal Studios and the water parks so they could get on all/ most of the rides and remember the whole experience.
Also how much roughly would I need to save for: two weeks, flights from UK, hotel/ villa and park entry fees and spending money for a family of four?
(I’m from the UK. Did the Orlando experience in 2004 and loved it!)
i dont think theres a set age ,
i love orlando and if i didnt have ties here i would think about moving out there, the prices in the restaruants havent changed much from when i went out in 95 and agian in 2004 dennys and pondrosa are two we all liked
its cheaper to buy all the passes here ,
we got around quite easy with out a car as the lynx and idrive go to the mails and theme parks ,
check out the brit guide
I believe that the perfect age is 10 its not too young for the child not to remember the expierience. I was 10 when i first went to orlando and remember almost everything,i never think you are too old for the parks but you can be too young the older they are the more they will remember but at 10 you can see the parks through a childs eyes
and still remember the expierience.
NOLA guy & mcc gave you great answers. It is hard to predict what the prices will be in a few years. You can check them out now though, to get some idea. We just returned from our 13th trip to Walt Disney World. Our daughter was 4 years old when we first traveled there. She had a great time & still remembers it. We stayed on site, as we always do. The Value Resorts are wonderful. We didn’t do as much then, because she did need a nap in the afternoon. You’re wise to start saving now. I wish you the best.
I really think that taking children much before the age of 7 or 8 – they get far less out of it and will remember little. I took my 3 at 7,9,11 and they remember the talking garbage can at Epcot and some of the characters walking around. (that was before you have to line up to see them)
If you are going to go when the youngest is 5. Spring for the character breakfast to see many characters at once and vow NOT to stand in line to get autographs as that will waste a lot of time.
If they still have the picture package – sign up for that through your on site hotel so that you all will be in the important pictures together.
Hard to predict how much money it will cost but you are wise to start saving now.
We took our son to WDW for his 5th birthday and I think that was about as young as it should be. He still needed a nap every afternoon, which was OK because we stayed on-site and just went back to the hotel.
Flight costs vary according to the time of year, but you can check airline & travel sites for an idea.
If you expect to visit multiple parks then plan for ground transportation costs (ex. rental car).
For admission & hotel costs, the park websites list them.
For spending money, right now would be at least US$50 per person per day for meals & incidentals, and probably closer to $75 per day.
The costs 5 years from now are hard to predict, and the Obama administration may deliberately crash the US Dollar (which would be good for you).
About $5000 (US) ought to do it if you want to hit everything. Air fare is going to be a killer here. While the parks you should probably plan on spending for each person at least $150 per day per park, including tickets, food, and souvenirs. Rental cars and hotel rates will eat up a bunch as well…
Im from the UK but now live in California in the bay area. America is a big place, consider coming to the West coast. You have been to the east coast how about doing something different, instead of going where all the tourists normally go.
I love it here, weather is great. So many great places to go to, ive been back and forth to the UK abou ten times and now live here. Flights vary, can be as cheap as £450 going upto £800 depending on when you book.
My family always stays at Celebration Suites at Old Town. It’s VERY affordabel given the size of the rooms and location. All the rooms are Suites that offer a full kitchen and a separate living and bedroom. The suites comfortably sleep 6 and they are located next to Old Town entertainment center which is full for the entire family- shopping, bars, amusement rides, restaurants, etc. etc. It’s fun for everyone and literally next door. The free shuttles to the parks saves a bundle on parking as does the kitchen which saves lots of money otherwise spent on breakfast for example. Staff is wonderful and the property has recently undergone a renovation with new furniture, mattresses and carpet. We have been coming to this hotel for over 10 years now and have never been disappointed.
