Question re: theater and music schools in the Manhattan area.?
I have 3 daughters (ages 5, 8 and 11) in piano classes and the oldest have performed in some Musical Theater (Fiddler on the Roof, School House Rock, Annie, Guys and Dolls, etc) in local theaters in the Miami/ Orlando area. How difficult (and expensive) is it for my daughters to get accepted in a theater school in New York City. My oldest daughter continues to tell me that she wants to move to New York to attend a Theater School. Of course taking her to Manhattan in February this year and watching "In the Heights" (AMAZING BROADWAY SHOW) did not help the situation.
Please advise.
NYC is very expensive. Finding the right school will be the trick. One that specializes in children.
Keep searching the web. But I think you would be crazy to move to NYC because your daughter(s) want to be on Broadway because it is very unlikely to ever happen. If you wait until your eldest is out of high school and send her to AMDA, for example, it will cost about $45,000 a year in today’s money for three years for her to graduate.
