Stay in Orlando or Cape Canaveral before our cruise?
We are going on a cruise soon and was wondering what was better..we fly into Orlando, but the cruise leaves from Cape Canaveral. Either way, we have to get transportation..is it better to stay in Orlando and then get transportation to Cape Canaveral or is it better to get transportation from Orlando to Cape Canaveral and stay in Cape Canaveral?
Stay at the Cape. Your best transportation option is a one-way rental car. Then you have it for the evening to do so exploring.
you may find it cheeper to stay in orlando weird but true alot of other guests going on the cruise will also stay at cape can. and orlando has alot of specials and great deals esp if you stay in the outskirts of orlando.
My favorite is the Hampton at Cocoa Beach. What time do you fly in? If it’s late at night, you may want to stay at Orlando b/c it’s closer and will allow you to crash. Are you an early riser? I’m not and when my husband and I go out of Canaveral, if we stayed in Orlando it would go something like this–wake up at 10, eat breakfast, barely make 11 checkout, drive the 45 min-1 hr to the Port. If you are an early riser the process of a 45 min drive is nothing since you have several hours between wake up and boarding starting.
Now part of it depends on what you are doing car wise. Were you planning on renting a car or taking a shuttle?
My husband and I usually drive in. We stay at Hampton Cocoa Beach b/c they allow you to park your car and provide shuttle to the port. But if you fly in to Orlando after about…6 or 7 pm it will be difficult to get transportation to Canaveral.
We stayed in Orlando next to the airport. The shuttle bus from the hotel took us to the cruise but it was about a 45 min to an hr drive stuck in a van with a lot of other people. I think if I ever went to get on a cruise ship again at Cape Canaveral I would definately stay there instead of Orlando.
