Would like any recommendations of where to stay in cocoa beach florida. I have a 6 and 3 y/o boys.?
Going late june and staying for 2 nights before driving to disney world so wanted to know if there is some place that we should be a must see as well as any suggestions of what hotel/motels are closest to the beaches.
Thanks!
2-nights @ the beach? A standard hotel s/b fine. Anything longer, I’d advise on accommodations with a kitchenette.
Here’s a safe bet…
La Quinta Inn & Suites Cocoa Beach-Oceanfront (fka Cocoa Beach Oceanside Inn)
1 Hendrey Ave, Cocoa Beach, FL 32931

La Quinta is a national chain, as you might know. Their rms are typically moderately priced. The Cocoa Beach location is a notch above most of their "kins". Consequently, their rates are slightly higher, but reasonable. BTW, please pronounce "Quinta" as "Keen-ta" (afterall, it’s spanish).
> Right by the pier.
> Walk to shops/restaurants.
> Balconies overlooking the Atlantic.
> Good comp breakfast.
> Do NOT get the 1st floor oceanside rms (can’t see much).
> Free parking.
Some activity advise…
> Try to capture a sunrise picture. Desk should know what time sunrise is for the next day.
> Do the pier.
> World famous, Ron Jon’s Surf Shop, is < a mile away. You can even walk along the beach to get to it. 24/7. Surfing lessons also avail.
> Watch for dolphins. You don’t need to be lucky. They can be at the horizon, or as close as a 100′ from shore. They especially like swimming north to Port Canaveral, then swimming back out w/the big cruise ships.
> Build sand castles.
> Look for bait fish and small baby Jacks as the waves roll in. They’ll come right up to shore. You can catch them with a fine net.
> Dig several inches, into wet sand, for "sand fleas".
> Jetty Park is a little more than 2-miles north, along the beach. For the most part, it’s a campground. However, this is the most popular spot to view the launches. The inlet, adjacent to it, is where all the big cruise ships egress from/to Port Canaveral (even Disney’s ships). Look for manatees. Look north to see the huge Nasa Vehicle-Assembly Building. The launch pads will be north of the building (but you can’t see them). Along the inlet, by the rocky jetty, there’s a ton of Ferrel cats. There’s a story behind them (ask the people at the concession stand). You can feed them. Between your hotel and Jetty Park, along the beach, there’s Cherie Park (sp?). You can take a breather there.
> KSC is about a 25-min drive. Don’t believe ads that say like 15-mins.
You should use your searches Yahoo or Google for Cocoa Beach Hotels. You will find complete info
and you should be able to pick just the one you want. Many are on the beach. Note there is also Cocoa and Merritt Island – both not on the beach
